SOFTLINE DESIGNER FURNITURE OFFICIAL GIFT TO THE CROWN PRINCE AND PRINCESS

“It is a very great honour for us to receive this commission, and our designers have been working on the project in secret for several months,” says Finn H. Sørensen, director of Softline.
The Municipality wanted Frederik and Mary to take a piece of Lolland home with them, and for it to be something unique that their children could also enjoy.
“We decided, therefore, to develop two royal designs from our young people’s range for the children, each of whom will receive a smart Grand Prix chair and a Donut pouf,” Finn explains.
Both pieces are made using a special felt fabric in royal blue, and Prince Christian and Princess Isabella will have their names and a royal crown embroidered in gold on each of the chairs. The soft, play-friendly pouf is also in royal blue fabric combined with an attractive shade of pink.
“The decorative, rounded design and the small dimensions make the furniture ideal for the children’s rooms, and we hope the Royal Family will get a lot of pleasure from the gift,” Finn comments.
Softline designer Stine M. Engelbrechtsen and her team in the development department were in charge of completing the Municipality’s gift. The Grand Prix chairs were originally designed by the Format design studio and the pouf by the Goodmorning Technology design studio.

GRAND PRIX is a decorative rocking chair. The amusing design and small dimensions make it ideal for children’s rooms.
DONUT is in three sections: a ring 80 cm in diameter with a 40-cm hole in the middle: in the hole are two stools, 40 cm in diameter and 15 cm high. If any piece of furniture can be described as fun, then Donut is it. Luxurious to the touch and nice to use. The principle behind Donut is simple, and it has lots of possible uses: as a play pouf, to sit in the hole, to mess around on the floor with, to play with, to rest on – or it can just be left as a room decoration.
