KARIM RASHID JOINS SOFTLINE

At the 2010 International Furniture Fair in Milan, the Scandinavian furniture manufacturer SOFTLINE will launch its unique 2010 collection and proudly present the latest member of its design team: Karim Rashid.

”Karim Rashid is one of the most prolific designers of his generation, and it is a great honour to have him on board,” says Finn H. Sorensen, Executive Director of the Denmark-based SOFTLINE.

The award-winning Karim Rashid will contribute three stunning designs to the many exciting new SOFTLINE products to be unveiled in Milan. His work has been featured in more than 20 permanent collections and he exhibits art in galleries worldwide.

”SOFTLINE has a strong focus on innovative, functional and high-quality furniture design, and Karim Rashid contacted us in 2009 to explore possibilities for cooperation with us because he likes our design approach. Karim’s contributions are significant and unique both in terms of form and colour, and I’m sure lovers of design will appreciate our new products,” explains SOFTLINE’s director.

The Milan Furniture Fair is also an occasion for SOFTLINE and its design team to launch a series of new products, materials and colours. Along with Karim’s new designs, this year’s SOFTLINE collection will feature brand-new and unique fabrics, including fabrics that change colour.

The SOFTLINE 2010 collection comprises many new designer products, and Karim Rashid is responsible for three of them:

PIERCE: Sofa/chaise longue
OTTOBED: Pouf/bed

SOFTLINE is one of only a few Danish companies to have exhibited in Milan for 12 years, and this year we are represented by the fair’s biggest Scandinavian stand.
